Polish fourth-graders remain among the world leaders in terms of reading achievement. The average score of our students was 549 points. This is one of the highest scores among the 57 countries and 8 additional regions participating in the PIRLS 2021 survey.
PIRLS, or the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study, is an international program measuring the school reading achievement of ten-year-old pupils in their fourth year of schooling.

The results of the PIRLS 2021 survey, which will be announced in May 2023, will help answer the question of how the pandemic and distance learning have affected elementary school students’ reading knowledge and skills. This is because the PIRLS 2021 survey was conducted among students during the most difficult period of the pandemic (pilot in the spring of 2020 and the main survey in the late spring of 2021).
“We are currently working with CEDEFOP to describe the vocational education system and the policies and activities implemented for vocational education in Poland," explains Jerzy Bielecki, IBE expert and head of ReferNet in Poland.
The President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, in a decision dated September 5, 2022, conferred the title of Professor of the Humanities in Philosophy on Assoc. Prof. Robert T. Ptaszek.
The Director of the Educational Research Institute participated in the festive celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Main Council of Research Institutes. During the event, he received an award given to the most innovative institutions in Poland.
